Is 16 Elm Heritage Hotel a B&B?We're a boutique hotel, not a traditional B&B - an important distinction. You get hotel-style privacy and flexibility without required breakfast times or communal socializing. Sleep in, explore on your own schedule, and walk to Trumansburg's excellent breakfast spots when you're ready. We provide luxury accommodations, thoughtful amenities and local recommendations when you want them - but your time is entirely your own. It's the intimacy of a small property with the independence of a hotel.
What are your Cancellation Policies?You may cancel up to 48 hours before your stay date for no charge but you must email or call us to cancel or do so on the booking platform you used when booking. You will be charged 50% deposit at the time of your booking. This will be refunded to you if you cancel prior to the cancellation window - it takes 3-5 days for the cc processor to refund the fees. Your remainder 50% is charged the night before your stay.
What time is check-in and check-out and is there flexibility?Our check in time is anytime after 4pm. Check out is 11am or before. We do have some flexibility and you can always inquire about altering those times We do have a half day rate should you wish to come in very early or stay late.
What rooms have soaking tubs or fireplaces?All rooms have a large soaking tub, except for Room #2 the double twin which has an amazing steam shower built for 2. The Junior Suite, and the Bespoke King, have the largest tubs. The bespoke Queen and the Boutique King have jetted tubs. All are pretty amazing spa baths.

What restaurants are within walking distance?So many restaurants are within a block or two. We are only half a block to Trumansburg’s Main St, Check here. There are excellent choices for all meals only steps away including our great local coffee shop! Gimee! Coffee. Upon arrival we provide you with sample itineraries, a welcome packet with restaurant recommendations and QR codes to guides for the area! You’ll also find that info in your check in and confirmation emails once you book.
What is Self Check-in?We have a self check-in policy - it’s easy and allows for you to show up whenever you need to without having to be on time or meet anyone so you can relax and go at your own pace. When you arrive you’ll just follow your check in instructions you will have received prior to arrival - you’ll find a welcome packet for you and all kinds of local information about your stay and visiting the area. A staff person is always available if you need anything at all.
What kind of bath products do you provide?We provide premium Beekman 1802 bath products in every suite - a luxury goat milk skincare line known for gentle, nourishing formulas. You'll find shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap. We also provide plush towels, bathrobes, and a hairdryer. Check here - Amenities.
We're perfectly positioned between both wine trails. The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is 10-15 minutes west with favorites like Sheldrake Point and Thristy Owl as well as Finger Lakes Cider House. The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is 10-15 minutes east with 50+ wineries You can easily visit both trails during your stay and return to 16 Elm between tastings. See our winery recommendations. What's included in my stay?Your room rate gives you access to your private room, in room coffee and tea anytime, lot’s of spa soaps, shampoo and conditioners, fluffy towels and robes and you have access to our main level rooms, the living room with grand piano, dining room, library where you can listen to records and in the warm season our lovely sun room which also offers coffee, tea and seltzers. Peace and quiet while you tour our grounds and gardens!
Not far at all! We are about 3.5 miles or 8 min in the car, that is also where the trailhead for the Black Diamond Trail which now sits atop the Falls and has a great visitors center and plenty of parking. From there you can hike the Rim Trail around the falls as well or head down to the main entrance at the lake shore - Taughannock Falls State Park
How far is 16 Elm from Taughannock Falls?Every season offers something special in the Finger Lakes. Fall (September-October) is most popular for harvest season, vibrant foliage, and perfect hiking weather. Summer (June-August) brings warm lake days, outdoor concerts, and full winery schedules. Spring (April-May) offers blooming landscapes and fewer crowds. Winter (December-March) is ideal for cozy getaways with snow-dusted gorges and quiet wineries. We're beautiful year-round - it depends on what experience you're seeking.
